Thriller At a televised committee hearing, the young and charismatic chairman, US Congressman Stephen Collins, visibly breaks down as he discloses the death of a beautiful assistant. The media swarms and Collins confesses to an affair, threatening the marriage to his wife Anne. Hard-nosed Washington Globe editor Cameron Lynne assigns veteran reporter Cal McAffrey, a one-time friend of the senator, to cover the story, flanked by ambitious novice Della Frye. Together, they uncover a deadly conspiracy which casts doubt on the theory that the assistant committed suicide.
