The Turin Horse (A Torinoi Lo)

An old man called Ohlsdorfer and his daughter live in a windswept farmhouse. Every day, they weather the unforgiving elements to fetch water from a well, using the horse to pull their wagon. Father and child return to the homestead to meagre rations and fleeting conversation. A visit from neighbour Bernhard to buy some liquor provides respite from humdrum routine; so too does a chance encounter from a band of travelling gypsies, who give the daughter a religious book to consider.
