After Earth

In the distant future, Earth is a devastated wasteland, uninhabited by humans who have relocated to Nova Prime in another solar system. A peacekeeping force known as The Ranger Corps protects this new community, led by valiant General Cypher Raige. The military man's son Kitai trains to become a member of The Ranger Corps but his application is rejected. So Cypher's wife Faia implores her husband to bond with Kitai during a voyage into space but the subsequent mission ends in disaster.
