Seventeen years after he witnesses the murder of his parents at the hands of corrupt Roman senator Corvus, slave Milo arrives in 79 AD Pompeii to fight in the gladiatorial arena. He catches the eye of the beautiful Cassia but she is betrothed to Corvus. As the hour approaches for Milo to clash swords with fellow slave Atticus, Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava and the two gladiators use their physical prowess to escape from the crumbling city with Cassia in tow.
