King Henry is a greedy, scheming monarch, who yearns to expand his kingdom by conquering the forest realm where the witch Maleficent and her shape-shifter underling Diaval hold sway. Unfortunately for the king, Maleficent is a mistress of dark, powerful arts and she elects to protect the land she loves by placing a curse on Aurora, the beautiful and innocent daughter of Maleficent's former childhood friend, Stefan.
