Glyndebourne Live Encore Screening: Il Barbiere Di Siviglia

Annabel Arden directs the first staging of Rossini's exuberant romantic comedy at Glyndebourne since 1982, which was recorded live on the stage of the festival's 1200-seat opera house in Lewes, East Sussex. Count Almaviva wants to woo fair maiden Rosina but he knows that her father, Dr Bartolo, would disapprove. So the Count enlists the help of the barber Figaro, who suggests that Almaviva should adopt the guise of a young soldier seconded to Dr Bartolo, in order to be admitted to Rosina's house.
