Marianne & Leonard: Words Of Love

6.6 out of 10

Documentary In 1968, 20-year-old Nick Broomfield travelled to the idyllic Greek island of Hydra and met Marianne Ihlen, Norwegian muse of singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen. She introduced Broomfield to Cohen and also encouraged him to make his first film, a short called Who Cares. Fifty years later, Broomfield dissects the love story between Cohen and Ihlen, which began in 1960 on Hydra, when the island was a paradise of free love for a bohemian community of artists, musicians and writers.
