Drama A triptych of tenderly observed stories about the devastating effects of war. In 1944 Kent, conscientious objector Oliver Bell is drawn to openly gay artist Eric Faber. In 1982 Redcar, proud mother May is visited by Geoffrey, a British army officer bearing the worst news about her son, who is serving in the Falklands War. In 1996 Germany, ageing holocaust survivor Helene has a chance encounter with Alan and his emotionally volatile young stepson.
