Thriller Wealthy crime novelist Harlan Thrombey presides over a large dysfunctional family including his daughter Linda and son Walter, Linda's husband Richard, widowed daughter-in-law Joni and grandchildren Ransom and Megan. The old man invites all his kin to his large mansion for an 85th birthday party but festivities are cut short by arguments and recriminations. That night, after doting carer Marta Cabrera has given the novelist his medication, Harlan apparently commits suicide.
