Drama Famous Italian filmmaker Guido Anselmi is supposed to be hard at work on a new science fiction drama but he is suffering from a crippling bout of director's block. Unable to move forward with the project and hampered by problems with his marriage to his wife Luisa, as well as relationship woes with his mistress Carla, Guido visits a clairvoyant, who compels the director to contemplate memories of the past.
