I Am Cuba (Soy Cuba)

Re-issue of Mikhail Kalatozov's anti-American propaganda film, made during the mid-1960s as an endorsement of life under the rule of Fidel Castro. The Cuban leader is represented by the figure of a bearded man, who fights against the Yankee imperialists and is sheltered by the peasants who grow to worship him. The film opens with a famous tracking shot through a hotel in Havana, from the rooftop and finally, into the swimming pool with one of the ghosts, three floors below.
