Drama Re-release of Kenji Mizoguchi's 1952 drama. In her old age, Oharu looks back at her extraordinary life as a concubine in 17th century Japan. She remembers her first love, lowly servant Katsunosuke, whose amorous attentions ultimately brought shame upon her family. Cast into exile, Oharu sought work as a prostitute for a powerful warlord, from whom she suffered victimization and abuse.
