Comedy Hollywood screenwriter Gil is contemplating giving up his life behind the film cameras to pen his first novel. His beautiful fiancee, Inez, supports him but her well-to-do parents are dismissive of the change in career, expecting Gil to fall at the first draft. Whilst holiday in Paris with his insufferable friend Paul, who pretends to be a font of knowledge about everything, Gil takes a wrong turn down a side street and is magically transported back to the 1920s.
