Drama Douglas Miller is an ace Spitfire pilot, who served with distinction during the Battle Of Britain and barely survived the aerial bombardment. He is a broken man, who has deliberately cut himself from off from other people. Despite these deep psychological wounds, Douglas is determined to play his part in destroying Nazi Germany. He transfers to Bomber Command, where he is asked to replace the deceased skipper of one Lancaster Bomber crew.
