Musical Evelino Pido conducts Damiano Michieletto's production of Donizetti's touching comedy, broadcast live from the stage of the Royal Opera House in London. Rich uncle Don Pasquale forbids the marriage of his nephew Ernesto to penniless Norina. In response, she joins forces with physician Doctor Malatesta to give the wealthy old man a dose of his own medicine. Dressing up as Malatesta's sister Sofronia, Norina marries the Don in a fake wedding ceremony then makes his life a misery.
