Musical Former GI Jerry Mulligan heads to the French capital with dreams of becoming an artist like Toulouse-Lautrec and Degas. Wealthy patron Miro spots his talent and throws her considerable support behind him, only for Jerry to become smitten with pretty shop girl Lise. Alas, she already has a sweetheart, Henri, who through a twist of fate is friends with Jerry's good pal, Adam. Romantic complications abound as the characters orbit one another.
